So, why is Peterborough a great place for families?

The Which? Consumer Guide completed some research that looked at where the best place in the UK was for young families. To complete this research, they looked at a selection of things such as the prices of family homes, birth rates and things to do in the area. Once all the research was completed, Which? chose Peterborough as the number one place for young families to move to.

The key reasons that Peterborough is a great place for families to live, according to Which? Consumer Guide is that it has a combination of affordable family homes and high birth rates. This combination makes Peterborough the perfect city for those with young families that are looking to get on to the property ladder.

Due to the high birth rates in the city, these young families will be surrounded by other young families of similar ages and circumstances. They will also be able to afford good quality family homes for their young children to grow up in.

At the time of the report by Which? Consumer Guide, the average property price was £169,261. The number came in well below the national house price average which, at the time of the report, came in at around £219,000.

The birth rate in Peterborough at the time of this report was 16.3% per 1,000 residents. Due to the high birth rate in the city, it means that there will be more child care opportunities such as nurseries and primary schools. It has been reported that the city of Peterborough also has more resources for new parents and young families. These come in the forms of support groups, parenting groups and similar organisations.

It’s important to remember that the city of Peterborough has two private schools as well as other nurseries, schools, colleges and more. A university is currently being created in Peterborough too, along with a new primary and secondary school.
